ISPM 15 Wooden Pallets
The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) to prevent the spread of wood rodents has legalized ISPM 15. Many countries around the world, including Australia, New Zealand, Europe, North America and South America requires ISPM 15 for shipments using wooden pallets.
In accordance with ISPM regulation 15, pallets made of wood must be treated appropriately to remove wood rodents including insects or fungi that have the potential to live in the wood. The two approved treatments based on the regulation are heat treatment and methyl bromide fumigation. To ensure that pallets have received proper treatment according to ISPM 15, pallets that meet the requirements have a stamp.
Why do you need ISPM 15 Wooden Pallet?
If you are shipping goods internationally, you must ensure that the wooden pallets used comply with ISPM 15 standards. So, they will be not detained or face insect issues in the destination country. Every pallet that complies with ISPM 15 has a stamp as a sign that the pallet meets ISPM 15 standards (ISPM 15 compliant).
If the wooden pallets do not comply with ISPM 15 standards, the destination country will order to destroy the material.
