Euro Pallet (EPAL), or EUR-pallets is one of the pallets that meet the standards for commodity shipments to Europe. The European standard UNE-EN 13698-1 determined that the EPAL pallet size is 800 x 1200 mm. These pallets can withstand loads of up to 1.5 tons and static loads with pallets that are not moving up to 4 tons.

Why Do You Need to Use Euro Pallet (EPAL)?

There are many benefits that can be obtained by using this Euro Pallet. EUR-pallets can be used for a variety of storage systems. Another great benefit is that they are ideal for use in automated warehouse systems. In addition, this pallet can be moved using various types of forklifts. In addition, the dimensions of 800 x 1,200 mm result from the multiples of the standard plastic box which makes it easy to group things.

The EUR-pallets size arose from the need to standardize the use of pallets to maximize available space in storage. As a result, the measurements of these pallets, known as EUR-pallets, EPAL pallets or European pallets, are defined from the UNE-EN 13698-1 standard in a European-wide manner.

According to the building specifications for plinths set forth in this standard, euro pallets of 800 x 1200 mm are adopted. In terms of weight, euro-pallets weigh about 25 kg and withstand loads of up to 1.5 tonnes (and static loads with pallets stationary up to 4 tonnes).

EPAL pallets are the most mobile exchange pallets in the world, especially in Europe. Currently, there are 450 to 500 million Euro Pallets in circulation. In addition, the following lists are the reasons why EPAL pallets are widely used for international shipments:

  • Safely cross borders all over the world.
  • Guarantee smooth transport of goods.
  • Ensure stable storage of goods.
  • Ensure maximum occupational safety thanks to their high quality.

The Most Widely Used Pallet for Exchange

For more than 60 years, EPAL pallets have been used to transport goods internationally. Globally, EPAL pallets can be found in a variety of industries which means they are always used for exchange. Furthermore, almost every industry that accepts goods in Europe also provides EPAL pallets with empty loads ready for exchange. Certainly, this can save reloading costs (reloading costs) as they do not need to purchase new wooden pallets.
